Professor Philip VanderMeer

Emeritus Professor of History Arizona State University, Tempe

Research and Teaching Interests. Philip VanderMeer has taught American urban, community, and political history, focusing on the late 19th and 20th centuries. His research interests include Southwestern politics and society, political leadership and careers.  He has published two books and various articles on Phoenix history; his latest book is a biography of Arizona’s legendary legislative leader, Burton Barr.
