Plagiarism Articles

"Plagiarism" is a word which teachers use but many students claim not to understand.  How complicated is this issue and what standard should one use?  Is it a matter of degree?  a matter of intention?  What is a student of history supposed to do (especially when writing a paper for History 498)?  The issue has considerable relevance today with accusations that two well-known historians commited plagiarism in their published works.  Their reactions differ considerably and raise important aspects of this topic.  Examine the materials in the sites listed below and identify the major issues.
