1 cup (1/2 lb) butter, softened | 1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar |
1/2 cup granulated sugar | 2 eggs |
2 tbsps milk | 2 tsps vanilla |
1 3/4 cups all purpose (plain) flour | 1 1/2 tsps baking soda |
1/2 tsp salt (optional) | 2 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal (rolled oats) |
12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips | 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional) |
METHOD
Heat oven to 375 deg. F. Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in oats, chocolate morsels and nuts; mix well. Drop by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls on to ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9-10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12-13 minutes for a crisper cookie (I use 11 minutes). Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet. Remove carefully with a spatula and cool completely on wax paper sheets. Open freeze and bag in batches if required.
