Wadi Ziqlab DEM

This is a jpeg image of a 10 meter resolution DEM of the Wadi Ziqlab and surrounding area in Northern Jordan. The Jordan valley is the green area on the left half of the image, and Wadi Ziqlab is the long fingering drainage just below center. Wadi Tayba is the long narrow drainage just above it, and Wadi Abu Zayid is the small drainage just below it.

Hillshade DEM of Wadi Ziqlab

This is a jpeg image of a hillshade DEM developed from the above DEM and then draped with the colors of the above DEM. Any other raster layer can be draped over a hillshade. Sattellite photos, soil raster maps, and land cover raster maps are brought to life by draping them over hillshades.

3D Visualization of Wadi Ziqlab

3D visualization gives us a better feel for the terrain of the Wadi Ziqlab area. Starting from the left we can see Wadi Tayiba, Wadi Ziqlab, and Wadi Abu Ziad. The vertical exageration has been set to 1.25 to help emphasize subtle terrain changes. The resolution of this visualization is 10 meters. Like a hillshade, other raster layers can be overlayed to bring them to life.

Satellite blow up of the town of Dayr Ab' Sayid

Dayr Ab' Sayid is the town nearest to Wadi Ziqlab, and is where the field crew lives during excavations.

Length-Slope map

The length-slope map is a rater layer which depicts the ideal erodability if soil type, land cover, and hydrography were all equal. Essentially, it is a factor of how many raster cells lay upslope from a certain cell, and how steep the gradient is.
