The NCTE National Gallery of Writing

The English Education Program at Arizona State University partners with the ASU College of Teacher Education and Leadership to qualify, certify, and support the professional development of Secondary English teachers throughout the Phoenix Valley and the state. With its specialty in Young Adult Literature, and with a focus on writing -- including the newly re-created Central Arizona Writing Project -- the English Education Program welcomes writers to this gallery who are willing to share their stories, their creativity, and their passions.

THE CHALLENGE: What can a writer do with seven words? What about SIX words -- and a state?

For our gallery, we invite students, teachers, faculty, and friends to compose their lives into a tiny vessel of words.

We ask you to give seven words about yourself – and one of the words needs to be Arizona.

Tell us a story, give us a tiny window into your world. Amaze us!

TEACHERS and STUDENT TEACHERS:

PLEASE encourage your budding writers to write and submit their writing our gallery: we would welcome all sorts of submissions from friends of English at Arizona State University.

If you or your students or friends are inspired by our challenge, create a document with a string of seven-word wonders – identifying the contributors by initials or first names or other (grade level or other important information) and we'll post the submissions as a group.
