The
British and American antislavery movements were closely interrelated, often
organizationally intertwined and heavily dependent on British philanthropic
monies. Although there were
antislavery movements in France, Spain, Portugal and other
European countries, the philosophical, religious and social
interrelationships within the Anglo-American antislavery movements
