Magical Place of My Dreams for two clarinets

Magical place of my dreams is the second composition completed in my new home in the beautiful American Southwest.  It was written for clarinetist Richard Nunemaker and is based on an earlier work for solo clarinet, Multiplicities.  Like this earlier work, Magical place uses many extended techniques for the clarinet, most notably multiphonics.  The piece was inspired by a walk through the South Mountains of Phoenix, and by the colorful legends of the Southwest Native American tribes.  The two clarinets are not supposed to be heard as separate players, but rather as a single, powerful being.  This mystical entity casts various spells and conjures images of long lost ages.
