Strong Acids and Bases
Strong Bases
In order for a hydroxide to be a base, it must be soluble.
Bases do not have to contain the OH- ion:
O2-(aq) + H2O(l) ? 2OH-(aq)
H-(aq) + H2O(l) ? H2(g) + OH-(aq)
N3-(aq) + H2O(l) ? NH3(aq) + 3OH-(aq)
