A Top Ten Horn CD List

Inspirational CDs for new horn students
Compiled by John Ericson with the assistance of members of the ASU horn studio, February, 2008

This list was put together with two major criteria. One was to provide a short list of great horn recordings of a variety of musical styles and performers, a list with a mixture of major works and fun music for horn. While there are many older recordings that have inspired us, they are not all available at this time. Thus, the other major criteria was that as of the writing of this list all these CDs appear to be in print and available from sources such as Amazon.com. It is our hope that this list will steer younger students to recordings which will inspire them to stick with the horn and reach heights as performers.

Top two must have CDs:

**Yes, I could not resist including one of my solo recordings on this list. The Horn Call reviewed this disk as a "terrific collaboration between horn and piano." I welcome you to check it out if you do not have the disk already.
