Genetics, genomics, and health
Our group researches conceptual, methodological, and
ethical aspects of genetics and genomics in the context of human health.
Some of the
questions we pursue are:
-
beyond facile and
inaccurate claims about 'blueprints' and 'genetic programs', what
are the roles of genes in human development?
-
what are the determinants
of health of populations and of individuals, and how are they
understood in the context of genetics and genomics?
-
what are the ethical
dimensions of health at these various levels?
-
how, if at all, can
genetics and genomics be made to serve the public's health?
-
what are the best
prospects for genetic and genomic medicine
– and are they worth it?
