My research program in bioethics and the philosophy of biology is tied together by the themes of making sense of development in its various manifestations, and of understanding how to intervene responsibly to prevent or mitigate its worst manifestations. Along with a group of wonderfully interdisciplinary colleagues, I think about genes and stem cells and brains and bodies and populations and social systems, within the framework of what I call systems bioethics.
