Daily Format: Lecture +HW solutions
Grading: 3 Hour exams (20% each) +Homework(15%)
+ Final(25%)
Homework: Due at the beginning of
class on day assigned. Penalty of 10% if one class late, 50% if later.

Extra Credit: Materials Selection Paper:
750-1000 word paper on materials selection for a given application ( including
criteria and comparison of different possible materials). Outline must
be approved by November 15, due Dec. 3. Four references required. Worth
up to 5 points on final 100 pt evaluation.
Policy on missed classes due to University-Sanctioned Activities:
1.Students participating in university-sanctioned activities need to
identify themselves prior to missing class.
2. Students should provide the faculty member with a copy of their
travel schedule.
3. Students should make up the missed work as soon as possible.

Materials Science a Multimedia Approach: by J. Russ CD-ROM
for PC computers features:
Hypertext presentations of important concepts referenced to six different
materials science texts.
A collection of QuickTime animated visualizations that can be launched
from the hypertext interface or as stand-alone illustrations.
A library of materials science problems that can be launched from within
the hypertext interface and solved using the Mathcad Engine 5.0.
This will be available at the COB computer lab.
