Project Two Workshop

Please address the following questions about the draft(s) you are reading. The purpose of your response is to provide helpful feedback and constrictive criticism so that the writers of the drafts you read can strengthen their essays. At this point in the writing process, I'd like you to focus on higher order concerns such as conceptual issues and organization, rather than on more lower order concerns such as spelling, punctuation, and grammar. In addition, it might serve you well to use this handout as a guideline for your own draft.

  1. In what ways does the writer compare the three texts in terms of methods of inquiry and how knowledge is made in this discipline? How might she further develop these comparisons?

  2. In what ways does the writer compare the three texts in terms of interpretive conventions? In terms of stylistic conventions? How might the writer strengthen this section of the paper?

  3. In what ways does the writer explore the connections the fields represented by these texts and other fields within the larger disciplines? How might this discussion be strengthened?

  4. How does the writer convince you that she is reasonably well informed about the texts she's writing about?

  5. Is the writer successful in examining how 3 different disciplines examine a topic? Does she point to key differences in discipline-specific writing and inquiry?

  6. What do you see as the strengths of this draft? What are its weaknesses?

  7. What suggestions do you have for the writer as she continues to develop her paper?
