I am pleased to hear of your interest in graduate study in the School of Life Sciences (SoLS) at Arizona State University.  The aim of our program is to provide motivated, talented students with the resources, expertise, and learning environment they need to become international leaders in modern biological research.  Our core group of faculty members in the areas of behavior, ecology, and evolution offers particularly unique and valuable opportunities for young biologists in these fields.

To better help you gauge whether M.S. or Ph.D. training in my laboratory, as a member of SoLS, and at ASU generally is the ideal situation for you, I would like to take the opportunity to elaborate on some of the more important aspects of our research, our graduate program, and life in southern Arizona.  My goals are to (a) detail the many research, financial and resource opportunities you will have as a member of our group, (b) relay the expectations that I have of my students and of myself (as a mentor), and (c) highlight the many attractions that biologists find living in and around the Sonoran Desert.  I also encourage you to contact me personally and to visit the websites of the school, the university, and the city for any additional information.
