Throughout the semester we as a Migration & Culture class have tried to unravel the question of “Why people Migrate?”. The Common and most obvious answer is that people migrate because they are “in search of a better life”, we have sought to “unpack” the meaning of this phrase. Our journey has taken us to Nogales Mexico, we have been exposed to many other cultures and migratory experiences through our readings and interviews, it has opened my eyes to issues I had not considered and has given me a better understanding of world globalization and the migratory processes. It is has shown me to look beyond the phrase “in search of a better life” and explore the underlying problems expectations, and the transnational experience of today’s world globalization.
