BIOGRAPHY OF JOHN BURNETT
I graduated from Western Illinois University
with a Bachelor of Business degree in 1975. After a three-month
back-packing tour of Europe, I eagerly entered the “real world.” I moved
to Houston, Texas where I met my wife and joined Southwest Airlines. My
25 year career also included assignments with American Airlines in
Dallas and Tampa and America West Airlines in Phoenix. 
My family and I
are fortunate to have traveled in 47 states and 20 countries. The
picture is our family scuba diving in Jamaica in 2003. I am currently working toward my Teaching
Certificate at ASU West. Perhaps by combining my love of history and
life experiences, I can inspire or ignite a few high school students.
This Migration and Culture class has helped me develop a better
understanding of the very complex issues surrounding immigration. I
will share this new perspective with my students.
