Every immigrant has an object that will remember them of their roots and family.  I received a picture from my mother some years ago. It was a picture of La Virgencita de Guadalupe, or The Virgin Mary.  Since then, I have carried this item in my wallet.  To many Mexican families,  she represents hope.  The people that come to this country hoping to make it, always leave people behind.  The family that they leave in Mexico only pray for their love ones in hope that they will make it into this country alive.  My family and I share all those experiences.  To this date, every night I thank her for helping me get to where I am.  For that reason, even though I am in Phoenix, Az.,  250 miles away from Mexico, every night I remember where I come from.
