Migrants in the City

For this project I went to a neighborhood at the north east corner of 61st avenue and Bethany Home Road. When walking around in the apartment complex, I was overtaken by the bright colors of the buildings. Not more the seven years ago I had a friend that lived in these apartments and back then they were panted a standard brown and beige. Now, they explode in orange, pink, green, purple blue and turquoise. Most of the doors are open and people are relaxing and conversing on lawn chairs outside while they enjoy a cold beer. The constant beat of Mexican music echoes throughout the apartments. Just around the corner is a small store, where with a hand written note I used to buy my aunt cigarettes, which is now Freia De Mayo a Mexican market. This community is developed with culture and everyone seems to be comfortable. The atmosphere is very different from what I remember and now more than ever it is a thriving community.
