CANADA! "A"
Many of our family members are not originally from here and have journeyed from far and wide in order to get here. If we look at our family allot of families have not originated from the place where they currently reside. That is the case with my parents and cultural background. Being of mixed decent my Father is originally is from Spain mixed with Spanish and French, and my Mother is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and also mixed with Eastern Indian. Both my parents had migrated from there places of birth to Canada. My family object represents specifically my mothers journey to Canada. She left the island of Trinidad and Tobago at the ripe age of 25 after graduating from the UTT in Cytotechnology. After graduating she had a job offer in Canada and of course she grabbed hold of that oversea opportunity to live and work in another country. This Symbolic Emblem was given to my Mother from my Grandmother before she left in representation of the new destination which she will reside. I remember my mother telling me how my Grandmother said a prayer for her just before she went into the plane to leave and handed this symbolic emblem to represent her crossing over. Today my mother sees this as a mere good luck charm as well as a memory. |
