I am standing outside the
Stardust House, but inside the playground area between the two houses.
I have been watching one of the caretakers, a young man of about 20 or
so, playing with the children. I
wonder what he thinks of us invading his work place. I wonder if he thinks that
we think we are better than he. Does
he live in the community? He seems
to be dressed in a trendy way, maybe he is a college student.
He doesn’t notice that I am watching him. I am intrigued that he seems
to enjoy his job so much. The
children actually seek out interaction with him. I notice him look up as more of
our group pours out into the playground area.
He seems ill at ease. Perhaps he is thinking that we look down on him or
maybe he thinks one of the women will think he is really cool because he likes
children. Or maybe large groups
make him nervous especially since he knows we are there to observe, maybe he
thinks someone is observing him…
