RESEARCH

Security for Health Monitoring Sensor Applications

Developed a cyber-physical inter-sensor communication scheme for Body Area Networks, which utilizes specific physiological signals as a way of enabling sensors to agree on a common key, thereby forming a basis for maintaining communication security. Implemented a proof-of-concept of the scheme demonstrating secure key agreement between sensors in a BAN based on actual Photoplethysmogram and Electrocardiogram data. Additionally, analyzed the security, performance and energy-overhead of the scheme in detail. Implementation was done using Matlab and TinyOS.

Health Monitoring Testbed

Lead a team of student-researchers in designing and implementing a pervasive health monitoring system. The project involved the integration of diverse medical devices and wireless (ZigBee) embedded sensors for collecting patient health and contextual data. Developed an application for real-time monitoring, storage, visualization and query infrastructure of sensor data using hand-held devices and desktop environments. Implementation was done using C#.NET and TinyOS.

Access Control for Smart-Spaces

Developed a novel access control framework for automatic and timely response during emergencies in smart-infrastructures Developed an access control framework (specified in XML) to provide automated, timely access to patient data for to caregivers for emergency situations. Implementation was done as a part of the Health monitoring system using C#.NET.
