Obviously, the molecules or atoms are reacting with one another. This is an extreme case of an attractive interaction when some of the molecules join together to become one molecule. As we will see later, it becomes possible to treate each species in the reaction as a separate ideal-like gas and then characterize the reaction simply as the dissappearance of one type of gas and the appearance of another.
