Problems for the Chapter on Fundamentals
There is only one way to learn physical chemistry. You have to do problems.
Reading the book carefully gives you the basic information you need. Going to
lecture gives you examples and helps you understand the context in which
physical chemistry is applied. However, all of this is simply a preparation for
doing the problems yourself. There are many problems in the book and I
encourage you to do as many as possible.
The better you are at doing problems, the better you will do on the
exam. At a minimum, please do: 5, 7, 11, 17, 19, 21, 23, 27
in the initial chapter on fundamentals (these all have answers in the back of
the book). Note that there are many
other problems that are similar to these as well, and
you would be well served to obtain additional practice on those as needed. The solution manual is available
from Freeman (the publisher of your) and should be in the bookstore soon if it
is not there now. However, remember
to do the problems BEFORE looking at the solutions. When you take the exam, there will
be not solution manual, so get used to working through them on your own.
