Photo: Louie Bush Family
The Last Family Photo
This is a photo I took using a tripod. Dad had just gotten home from work, and we raced to the back yard for a family picture. Everyone complained--as usual. The sun was coming down at just the wrong moment, so the photo was overexposed. But then when my father died a year later (he had a heart attack at only 56-years-old), we were all glad for the picture. Cherry died just before Christmas 2000.

"Memory is the sense of loss, and loss pulls us after it. God Himself was pulled after us into the vortex we made when we fell, or so the story goes. And while He was on earth He mended families."
