RESEARCH INTERESTS

My current research interests are in sustainability science. I am most interested in coastal sustainability science and conducting research that is applied to the problems associated with coastal development, resource use and protection, and the human-natural interactions and how they can be best managed to preserve our natural legacy while implementing intelligent development. My Master's thesis research in the School of Sustainability at ASU is focused on the optimization of conservation efforts for the Gulf of California. I am working with the Gerber lab (Leah Gerber and Caterina D'Agrosa), Mick McCarthy (University of Melbourne), and Anne Gondor (The Nature Conservancy) to analyze threats and the costs of conservation efforts in order to achieve the most efficient use of conservation resources. Other current projects include the economic assessment of ecosystem services associated with the seagrass Zostera marina and collaboration on spatial aspects of the whales eat fish project in the Gerber lab.
