As a student of IDS, I have purposed myself to gain an understanding and background in two complimentary subject areas. The first of these is a course of study in the concentration of Mass Communication.  This work concerns itself with the study of how a message is delivered to the greatest number of people. It is also an examination of mass media outlets, and their history of shaping society. The following two academic artifacts were chosen to demonstrate my growth as a mass communications student. In the beginning of the program, I was as wild eyed and idealistic as one could be, wowed by the promises and opportunities of a dynamic medium. Looking back over these documents, I am interested to see how cynical my perception of the industry has become. This is not to say that I am disappointed in my choice, (I’m not) but rather how seriously I regard the business after being exposed to it.
