Course Description:
This semester, you will complete four major writing projects. Please keep in mind that all of your writing will be posted online so that your classmates and I will be able to read your drafts and provide helpful feedback as they evolve. For this reason, it will be important for you to choose topics that you are comfortable sharing with others.

Outcomes:
Considering academic and public discourses, you will connect your life experiences with ideas you encounter in your reading, research, and discussion, developing complex arguments through consideration of multiple perspectives.

Objectives:
The mission of ASU's Writing Program is to introduce you to the importance of writing in the university and to develop your critical reading, thinking, and writing skills so that you can successfully participate in the university. Writing is intellectual work. The demands of writing within the university community can include the need to:

• Synthesize and analyze multiple points of view
• Articulate and support one's own position regarding various issues
• Adjust writing to multiple audiences, purposes, and conventions
