Mark Crudup is a print journalism major at Arizona State University, who will graduate in December 2009. Mark's initial experience began with an early interest in creative writing. With his teachers' encouragement, Mark began writing for his high school newspaper, Corona del Sol's Sunrise, and eventually became senior writer and life and times editor.

In his college career at ASU, Mark developed his writing skills in professional courses and pursued a number of different creative writing avenues, including poetry, creative non-fiction and journalism.

Throughout his life, Mark has discovered a deep passion for traveling and nature. Growing up, he traveled to Alaska, Kauai, Mexio, Venezuela, Grenada, the Bahamas, and Spain. Mark was able to develop fluent spanish speaking skills while living with a family in the heart of Madrid, Spain for three weeks with a study abroad program. In addition to his traveling experiences, Mark grew up hiking the canyonlands of Arizona. Being a former Boyscout of America, Mark has a strong affection for Arizona's nature. In his dedication to reveal Arizona's beauty, Mark created a blog that highlights many of his hiking and camping experiences.

Mark also pursued an interest science and medical journalism, while working closely with a professor at ASU who recently created the "Cronkite Eye on Science" Web site. During his work, he was able to write a main piece on deep brain stimulation treatement for Parkinson's Disease patients.
Mark has written for local newspapers and online media aroundtthe valley. He is a genuine journalist hoping to help the societies understand complex world problems and show the significance behind scientific research, findings and treatments.
