MP will be online "Featured Artist of the Month" in IMAGE: Art, Faith, Mystery, during March 2010.
MP's story, "Ecorché (flayed man)" will be published in the journal A Public Space, editor Brigid Hughes, New York, February 2010.
MP has been invited to be on two panels at AWP’s annual conference in Denver, CO, spring, 2010: “The Voice of Children in Fiction,” and “The Literary Fantastic.”
An interview with MP is featured on the homepage of the new South Asian youth literary journal, Kinaara which was launched in July 2009; the interview was conducted during MP's January 2009 visit to Calcutta.
MP was distinguished guest speaker and on the teaching faculty for the Prague Summer Program, Czech Republic during July 2009. This year's theme was The Nature of Mother Nature: Women, Power, and the Environment. Highlights included:
- Among MP's students in the program was H.E. Mr. Athar Mahmood, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Czech Republic.
- MP gave the lecture "The Oblivion of Beauty: Women in Panjshir Province, Afghanistan."
- MP performed a reading with Ivan Klima. MP read from her short story "Pelagia, Holy Fool."
- A story about the upcoming program appeared in The Prague Post, the Czech Republic's English-language newspaper on May 27, 2009.
MP's story, "The Nine-Gated City" will be published October 2009 in Agni magazine, edited by Sven Birkerts.
In May 2009, MP was a guest speaker at Professor Mario Materassi’s Southwestern Literature class, University of Florence, Florence, Italy.
MP will be Artist-in-Residence March 20-23, 2010 for Seattle Pacific University’s MFA Program, Greg Wolfe, Director. The residency is held at Whidbey Island, WA.
A biography written by MP, Devotedly, Virginia: The Life of Virginia Galvin Piper, was published and officially launched at the Piper Charitable Trust's Founders Day Dinner, December 7, 2008. An interview with MP about the biography appears in the December 2008 Piper Bulletin.
