MP gave a presentation on the relation of fiction writing to social justice, and the pursuit of balance and understanding within communities at the 2008 Spring Humanities Series at Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles, Oregon on April 9, 2008.
MP's "Writing Exercises"appeared in Naming the World and Other Creative Writing Exercises, ed. Bret Anthony Johnston (Random House). MP's review of the book The Beautiful Miscellaneous, by Dominic Smith (Atria Books) appeared in the Summer 2007 issue of Paste Magazine.
Fall 2007: MP and Sean Nevin, Director of The ASU Young Writers Program, set-up an ASU outreach program with the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Katie Capello, MFA student, was one of the first writing workshop volunteers.
Late in 2006 MP was appointed an Honorary Board Member for WordTheatre (Los Angeles, New York, and London), Cedering Fox, Director.
MP traveled to India in January 2006 to observe the workings of the Daywalka Foundation's Kalam Project.
MP judged the 2005 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, along with George Garrett and Ana Menendez.
RELATED:
MP was elected an Executive Board Member of The Daywalka Foundation, an anti-trafficking agency based in Portland, OR., working to end sex trafficking and violence against women and children in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. MP ended her term with Daywalka September 2009.
In Spring 2006, MP agreed to serve on the Advisory Board of the Lost Boys Center in Phoenix, which has a new Executive Director, Ralph Serpico. http://www.azlostboyscenter.org.

"The Hauser Variations," a short story by Melissa Pritchard, was published in Conjunctions magazine, Fall 2005.
A short interview with MP appeared in the Winter 2006 issue of Heart of the Matter: Sacred Heart Alumni Magazine, pg. 28.
On September 16, 2005, Melissa Pritchard hosted at her home a benefit dinner for the AZ Lost Boys Center, a recreational facility which exists to assist Sudanese refugees.
Spring 2005 Melissa Pritchard was named Director of Creative Partnerships for the Daywalka Foundation, a U.S.-based non-governmental organization committed to ending human trafficking and modern day slavery.
MP's short story "A Private Landscape" was reprinted in A Garden of Forking Paths: An Anthology for Creative Writers (Pearson/Prentice Hall 2006), eds. Beth Anstandig and Eric Killough.
MP's book of stories, Disappearing Ingenue: The Misadventures of Eleanor Stoddard was featured in a funny little article in The New York Times, July 6, 2005.
Summer 2005 MP was selected for inclusion in the AcademicKeys Who's Who in Humanities Higher Education (WWHHE).
ASU Research Magazine published an article about MP in June 2005 entitled, "Driven to Write."

MP recently accepted a formal offer made by the Trustees of the Virginia G. Piper Foundation to write a biography of Virginia G. Piper, in conjunction with the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing.
The Changing Hands Book Stories magazine featured MP's essay, "A Room in London" in its February 2005 issue.
MP was a nominee for the Arizona State University Commission on the Status of Women 2005 Outstanding
Achievement and Contribution Award.
MP hosted a "Hurricane Benefit Reading," Friday, September 23, 2005 in her home. Students from the Creative Writing Program at ASU performed from their work to aid survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
Spring 2005 MP co-taught (with Dr. Cynthia Hogue) a course at Arizona State University entitled, "The Poetics of Bearing Witness." The course also featured an optional internship working with 6th graders at a Phoenix inner city school or in a Tempe care facility for brain-injured adults.
Melissa Pritchard's short story, "Photograph of Luisa" appears in the textbook, Deepening Fiction: A Practical Guide for Intermediate and Advanced Writers (Allyn & Bacon/Longman 2004) by Sarah Stone of New College of California and Ron Nyren, a former Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University.
Late Bloomer was named one of the best books of 2004 by the Chicago Tribune (December 19, 2004 issue).
MP was the fiction judge for the Sonoran Prize for Fiction, March 2005.
Anchor Books, a division of Random House, Inc., published a paperback edition of Late Bloomer in March 2005.
