Margergy Kempe:

In Search of the Scribe

The Language of Self Identity:

The Scribe in the Text

Because the text offers what little we know about the priest who copied and transcribed the Book of Margery Kempe, the text is where all study of his identity begins. These pages will organize the textual presentation of the scribe’s character, position, and whereabouts in order to provide a basic platform for future Margery Kempe scholars, as well as offering a detailed analysis of the linguistic patterns used to describe each character in the Book who merits consideration as the potential scribe.
