He wrote of himself "Employing Printer, Journalist, Traveler and
Soldier in the World War. Editor, The Atlanta Times. Educated at
McMinn Military Academy, Rogersville, Tenn. Unmarried."
William Luther was the author of [UL: My Ancestors and Their
Descendants :UL] , the first definitive genealogy of the Gillenwaters
family. William had the book privately printed and copyrighted in
1937. Although the book is out of print, the Family History Library
of the Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake has it copied on microfilm. The
microfilm can be rented from any LDS local Family History Center.
As of September 1992, Mrs. Berkeley Sistrunk Ostrander had an
original copy handed down from her Grandmother Nancy Pearl
Gillenwaters Davis who had "obtained the copy `way back when' from
Will Brown for $5 toward the cost of the printing." As a long time
editor of the Atlanta Times, I would think that Will got a good deal
on the printing cost.
