Jess D. Gillenwaters, 85, 1621 E. Charles, died at 1:50 a.m.
today in Mercy
Hospital, where he had entered Sunday. Funeral services will be
Thursday at
2 p.m. in Cheney's Chapel with Rev. Donald Rohrer of the Church
of God
Independence Holiness officiatong. Internment will be in
Clarksburg
Cemetery.
Mr. Gillenwaters was born July 3, 1887, at Rushville, Ill., the
son of
Charles and Caroline Kelly Gillenwaters. He married Hazel
Eleanor
Tucker, July 30, 1913, at Rushville. She preceded him in death
July 11,
1959. They moved from the Fort Scott area in 1927 from Illinois,
settling
southeast of Fort Scott where they farmed many years before
moving into
Ft. Scott.
Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Walter (Edna) Clark,
Deerfield and
Mrs. Marion (Opal) Jones, 1617 E. Charles Street. There are four
grand-children and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are
one brother
and one sister, Merritt Gillenwaters, Rushville, and Mrs. Myrtle
Tucker,
Washington, Ill.
