Descen- dants by Mrs. Barbara R. Brown. The for sale notice appeared
in the Huntsville Illinois newspaper. The obituaries are thought to
have been originally published in a Wichita newspaper.

Between the hours of 10 O'clock A.M. and 1 P.M. the following
described
Property:
__TWO MULES, 4 MILCH COWS, 2 TWO-YEAR-OLD HEIFERS, 40 head of
Sheep to be
sold in numbers to suit purchaser,
__________40 ACRES OF CORN, 30 acres of which are in the shock,
and
a lot of Hay. A lot of Farm implements too numerous to
enumerate,
together with a cane Mill.
____TERMS OF SALE. - All sums over $5.00 a credit of nine months,
the
purchaser to give note with approved security, sums under $5.00
cash
in hand.

Thomas Gillenwater Obituary
___Thos. Gillenwater was born Feb. 20, 1832 in Hawkins County,
Tenn.
He moved to Illinois with his father when a boy. There he grew
to manhood
and was married to Ruth Hillis, Dec. 7, 1854. To this union were
born nine
children, seven of whom, with his wife, survive him, Oscar and
Frank of
Butler County, John of Harper County, Mrs. Anna Tyree of Camden,
Ill., Mrs.
Dillie Alexander, Mrs. Nettie Clark and Mrs. Mattie Gilmore of
Wichita.
___He moved with his family in January 1888 to his farm four
miles south
of Andover, where he resided until the time of his death, July
16, 1909.
___He was converted at the early age of seventeen years and has
been a
member of the M. E. Church, faithful to the end.
___In times of sickness and death he was the first to offer his
service
and willingly did all he could to aid the suffering showesing
thereby the
Christian character.
___"For in as much as ye did it for the least of these, ye did it
unto me."
___He had been a sufferer for some time with pain in his side but
always
able to be about. The last day of his life was one of pleasure.
He attended
a Sunday school picnic, went early and fished a while before the
crowd
gathered, then went about the grounds from game to game enjoying
it all.
Came home early and about 6 o'clock sitting in a chair on his
back porch
quietly passed away. His last day on earth was one of pleasure
and then he
passed away to meet his God in the great beyond, where all is joy
and peace.

Thomas Gillenwater Funeral
___ Thomas F. Gillenwater died at his home thirteen miles east of
Wichita
last evening. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10
O'Clock at
the Seltzer church and Interment made in the Seltzer cemetery.
Rev. J.W.
Anderson will officiate.
