[11] On 4 October 1826, Robert sold his farm on the north side of the
Holston River to John H. Smith in preparation of emigrating. By
February of the next year he was in Parke County, Indiana, where Eliza
was born. Around 1836 Robert emigrated once again. This time to Henry
County, Iowa. He remained there until his death in 1849.
In Hawkins County Deed Book 13:11, there is an entry that Robert
and Thomas Wright sold land to George Hall.

Barbara Rose Brown credits Florence Huff and Doris V. Brown for
having done a lot of research on this family. She further states that
the famly Bible records were in the possession of Florence, who in
1977 was living at 1058 Larch Avenue, Moraga, California 94556. I
have no information about these two ladies.

[69] The following information was extracted from TERRELL GENEALOGY,
compiled by Emma Dicken. See References.
"It is tradition that William Wilkins and Betty Terrell ran
away and married when she was in her thirteenth year, and he
was twenty-two.
It is said that they resided in Chatham County, N. C. for a
while, but later moved to S. C. near Spartanburg where William
Wilkins on 8 Dec. 1774 was granted 200 acres of land between
Pacelot River and Thickerty Creek. Other grants were issued to
him
on later dates. Their old home was still standing a few years
ago.
William Wilkins was a citizen of high standing in his community
and was a Revoluntionary soldier. The records in South Carolina
Archives show that he served as private horseman in Captain
Mapp's
Company in 1872.
It is family tradition that William Wilkins and Adam Goudelock
were noted for being intrepid Indian fighters. William and Betsy
Wilkins reared a large family, being the parents of sixteen
children,
all but two living to be grown and married."
In the COWETA COUNTY CHRONICLES, NEWNAN, GA, Jones and Reynolds
state,
"Captain William Wilkins...enlisted for service to his country
August 12th, 1779, in Captain Thomas Ballard's Company, under
Col. Abraham Shepard of 10th N. C. Reg. and was made lieutant in
1780; later a Captain of Militia (see N. C. State records of
Continental Army, pages 1188, 1189.) He was an Independant
Ranger
and Indian fighter with Adam Graudelock. He entered large
acreage
of land in Spartanburg county, South Carolina, after the
Revolution;
but, in his old age, he returned to Rutherford county, North
Carolina,
where his son was a member of the North Carolina House of
Commondies."
