Ida Mae's obituary appeared inthe Idaho Daily Statesman Monday
morning, 22 Jan 1945. The short article reads:
__GILLENWATER - Mrs. L.D. Gillenwater died Sunday night at her
residence at 705 Linden avenue. She had been a resident of Boise for
about 25 years. She is survived by a granddaughter, Ida May Lincoln
and one great grandson. Summers is in charge of arrangements. End
of article.
Ida was also survived by her husband whom the article fails to
mention. Luther survived Ida by 57 days.

TN.
"_________________________Bulls Gap, Tenn., August 17, 1931.
Mr. William L. Brown
1983 Howell Mill Road, N.W.
Atlanta, Georgia
My Dear Sir:-
_____Yours received and I can only give an outline. The original
Gillenwters came over from England and settled in Maryland. I
don't
know his given name. He raised a family of six children - five
boys
and one girl. Two of the boys came to Southwest Virginia. Two
came
to East Tennessee and one boy remained in Maryland.
_____Your family came from the brothers settling in East
Tennessee. The
branch from which my mother came was from the brothers settling
in South-
west Virginia. My mother was raised at Fort Blackmore, Scott
County,
Virginia. Her name was Mary, who died when I was three years
old. Her
brother's names were: John, David, William, James and Sylvester,
all of
whom lived and raised families in Scott County, Virginia.
_____The girl of the original family in Maryland married a Brown
and went to
Missouri and the family of Browns, composing the Brown Shoe Co.,
of St.
Louis, I am told, are the descendants of the sister who went to
Missouri. .
