In the 1860 Hawkins, Tennessee census Minerva does not appear in
the household of Powell although he continued to live in the county at
least through 1870. Neither does Minerva appear in the household of
her father. Therefore, unless Minerva abandoned her family and ran
off, it is assumed that she died shortly after Sarah Ellen's birth,
around 1857 or 1858. No grave has beem found for Minerva.
At about the same time that Minerva died, Daniel Delp also died.
This left Powell with five young children and Mary Kyle Delp with five
young children. As so frequently happened, Powel and Mary chose to
combine their families under one roof. Powel and Mary then had three
more children - thirteen in all.
