In the last year year I have focused my research on my SATTERFIELD/SUTTERFIELD family, and there is my interest in the Moore family. I searching for the ancestors of PETER MOORE SATTERFIELD, b. abt 1775. He married Mary Rogers in Laurens Co., S.C. in 1801. After this date I pretty well have his life documented, but his ancestors elude me. Family history states "Peter Moore Satterfield mother maiden name was MOORE." From the research I've already performed I SUSPECT that Peter's parents were either Robert and Catherine Satterfield or James and Elizabeth Satterfield (name is sometimes spelled SUTTERFIELD), both families from N.C. and S.C. I've just started my research on the Moore family, therefore, I don't have a lot of Moore info. to contribute to the Newsletter. In the near future I'll send some census records that I have gathered. My father descended from Edmund Scott, an original proprietor of Farmington CT. My mother's parents came from Luxembourg to OR via IA. I graduated from Stephens College, class of 46, and have a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Washington U., St. Louis. After a year of active duty with the Army in San Antonio, I married a military pilot in 1950 (a Texan) and we went to Anchorage. subsequent stations have been San Antonio, Dayton, Perdue U. where Stub went to graduate school (he was an electronics Engineer), MD, AL, Frankfurt, (they built the Berlin Wall on my birthday just after our arrival), SC, and Denver. Stub retired in 1966 and had a second career with the Dept. of Defense in MD. I have been doing family research for 15 years and have finished a manuscript on my Scott family. We live in a retirement community of 2500 residents outside of Baltimore. Our two children also live in MD. My husband's Moore ancestor was Rice Moore who married Elizabeth Madison on 25 Jun 1786 in Halifax VA. She was the daughter of Roger Madison and Elizabeth Taliaferro. Rice and his probable brother, Mackness (they lived next to each other in TN) went to Grainger Co, TN. Possible father or Rice was James Moore of Halifax. A probable sister was Sarah Moore who married Martin Stubblefield 30 Oct 1788, in Halifax, daughter of James. They also went to Grainger. Mackness Moore married Sarah Thompson 10 Mar 1789 and Richard Thompson married Mary Moore 3 Mar 1789 in Halifax. I am interested in learning more about this family and will appreciate whatever help I receive and will be glad to share my information. [Note from Joyce: Margaret can receive your email correspondence at the above address, but will probably respond by US Mail due to demands on use of the system where she lives.] - - - - - - - - - - - JIM BOB SWAFFORD (JIMBOBTX) ***** I'd like to introduce the Moores on my mother's ( Leela Mae Moore Swafford) side of the family, starting with: 1. Tn. her name was Lydia Spiller and was the daughter of Warrenton Spiller and Leannah Nichols. Warrenton's parents were Warrenton King Spiller and LYDIA MOORE. This would be a fairly early time period. The source that I got this from didn't have any dates or places or its just limited info. I live in Madison, Mississippi just outside Jackson. This is just a hobby for me and most of the research that I do is on my husband, Ray's, family. My sister stays busy doing our family. Ray and I have been married 35 years and have 5 (about to be 7 )grandchildren from 5 children.
