I just moved my home page over to the Rootsweb Genealogical Data Cooperative. Lots of new features including a surname registrations page. I would like to invite all Moore newsletter participants to come and submit their surname and information about their research. It doesn't have to be Moore related, any line will do. My new address: http://www.rootsweb.com/~sueskay/research.htm NEW MEMBERS Last week, ye olde editor inadvertently combined the introductions of Bob Moore of West Palm Beach FL and Barry. Apologies, all. ROBERT M. MOORE (bobmoore@earthlink.net ) *****I presently live in the West Palm Beach area of Florida, but I've traced my MOORE line back to Shenandoah and Rockingham counties in Virginia. David MOORE b. abt 1808 probably in Virginia, married Abigail TUSINGER in Rockingham Co. Virginia in 1832. They had two children, Philip b. abt 1832 and Isaac b. abt 1835. In about 1850 they moved to Preston County, which is now in West Virginia. Philip, my direct line, married Lydia HUNT and had four children, Romeo Newton MOORE, David Morgan MOORE, Mary A. MOORE and Abbie MOORE. Researching: MOORE, POSTON, SINCLAIR, GREGG, HUNT, TROWBRIDGE & LAREW in Preston Co,WV: MOORE & TUSINGER in Shenandoah Co, VA - - - - - - - - - - BARRY (HUNKBOYS): ******Hi. I am a new subscriber to Moore News. My earliest Moore is Henry Howe Moore born 5/5/1832 in Randolph, VA and died in Davis, Iowa. He married Mary Krum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! - - - - - - - - - - - DONNA MOORE ( Num2Nascar) ******Walkup Moore is the son of William Warren Moore and Norah Walkup and the grandson of Jesse Galla Moore. In my line of Moore's there are 3 Jesse G Moores. The first was a soldier in the Revolutionary War .... Battle of Brandywine. In 1836 he was drawing a Federal pension on the roll in Surry Co Va. I thought the name "Walkup" was an unusual name and that someone would recognize it, if they had the same Moore's. Also my Henry Wiley Moore married Roberta Higgins. I have found a direct ancestor of one of the Higgins that I was looking for. It is so exciting when you finally connect with someone ! So now I will have a new line to add to mine. I have 10 generations of Moore's and 9 generations of Higgins. This is great !!!!! - - - - - - - - - - - KAREN PARKER (nparker@iquest.com) ******I am researching the Moore line and am at a standstill in with the marriage of William Moore to Clarissa Buckner in 1816 in Charlotte CO, VA. I believe his father was also William Moore. Family tradition just said that the Moores came to VA from England and stayed there till it became too crowded then moved to E. Tenn. In 1818 William and Clarissa Buckner Moore had their first child, Sarah Elizabeth, in Bedford Co, VA. By about 1825 they were living in Cocke County TN. I just located the original references to the State land grant for the property to William . Is anyone else researching this line? I will gladly exchange any information I have! William's children were : John, William, Lettitia, Sarah Elizabeth, Clarissa, Catherine and George. - - - - - - - - - - - ROGER BARTLETT (Roger.Bartlett@1201.ima.infomail.com) ******My g-g-g-g-grandparents were John MOORE and Mary LEWIS. Both were from Elbert County, GA. He was born in 1758, served in the Georgia State Troops during the American Revolution, and died in 1847. I have no dates for her. I know nothing more about this pair. One of their daughters was Sarah ("Sally") MOORE, my g-g-g-grandmother. She was born on 13 May 1792 and died on 27 Jan 1847. She married John FORTSON on 17 Mar 1814 in Elbert County, Georgia. John was born on 6 Feb 1794 in Elbert County, Georgia and died on 6 Dec 1860. His parents were Benjamin FORTSON (1765-1823) and Sarah ("Sally") HEAD (dates unknown). As you see, I know of only a couple of Moore generations and have little information on them. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - KERRY STAHL (KerryStahl@aol.com) . ******I got interested in this about a month and 1/2 ago when my son had a family tree project for school. My husband's family had extensive information, and various relatives had given me a little, some of it very interesting from a historic or personal viewpoint. My father was in the Navy, so I wasn't around family to hear very many discussions about relatives. I am trying to take our family tree back further. One of my four ggggrandmothers is Nancy Jane Moore, b. 31 May 1803 White County, Tenn died 28 May 1881 Anderson County, Tx. Her daughter, Jane Killion, was born 1825 in Al.. She married John Anderson McCain Killion. I found out within this month that John Killion was adopted by his father, apparently when his father Goodwin married Jane Tharp, who is believed to be his natural mother. Maybe she was a widow of a McCain. Maybe my Nancy Jane Moore was a daughter of the James Moore mentioned in The Grandfather's Story. White County is not too far from Nashville. QUERIES (JBRAND1056@aol.com) *****I'm on the list for my cousin, Sara Allen in Louisville, Ky. Santa didn't bring her a computer last year. I mail Sara at least one package per month, so she can keep up with all the information. Sara is searching for her Robert Moore ( lived to be about 103 yrs. old) married a ? Hamilton. There daughter, Louisa Jane Moore, who married John Montgomery Boyd in Ala. John was a General during the Civil War. Any help is greatly appreciated: Sara does enjoy this news letter. - - - - - - - - - - ELEANOR MALLOY (EMalloy739) ******I'm still searching for leads on my g.g.g.grandfather, Elias Moore. I've been able to narrow down his date of death to between 1839 and Sep. 1841. Other than that, and notations in our Family Bible, it's almost like he never existed! I feel sure this will be the year of a breakthrough! Thanks again for providing all of us a way to communicate, and please keep up the great work! - - - - - - - - - - - - LISA COOK (sticks@csra.net) ******My mother-in-law is interested in knowing if the John Moore of Fawley, England could have a connection with my father-in-law's John Moore b. approx. 1836 in Kerrimure, Scotland, whose son is John Thomas Moore, whose daughter is Charlotte E. Moore who immigrated to the US from Belfast and married a Cook in Maine.
