These are two different subscribers and, apparently have two different lines. If you had trouble contacting the right person, please don't lose heart and try again. NEW MEMBERS FLORA LOWE (flolow@clare.edu) ******Both I (a college librarian from Virginia) and my husband (a history professor from Georgia) live in Iowa and have Moore roots, so we're both interested in sharing any information about our lines. I have traced my connection back to Isaac Moore, an early settler of Floyd and Montgomery Counties in Virginia, ca. 1800 or slightly before. His son Isaac married Nancy Howard; their son Jacob married Julyann Kitterman. My ggrandmother was their daughter Nancy Adeline, who married James Hiley Booth. My husband's grandfather was Jacob Frank Moore, born in 1897 or 1879 somewhere in Texas. He married Nell Eugenia Mims in Macon, Georgia, in 1910. They lived in Savannah, GA, near her family, then in Chicago where he left the family and never returned, thus becoming a 'mystery man.' His two children remember him speaking of having come from Texas, of having half-sisters in Tennessee, and of having grandparents who were Irish immigrants. We'd especially like to know anything about his death, about which his family knows nothing. I'm really interested in additional information about any of these lines, especially about the location of Isaac Moore before he arrived in Montgomery County. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - DONNIE PICKARD (deemay@mail.netusa1.net) *****I'm researching Presley Moore born Aug 6, 1780 NC. and died 6 Aug 1850 in Henderson Co., TN. TN in the 1800s, and I'm honored to be in the distinguished company of so many Moores! They were closely related to the main family I'm investigating, the Parkinson/Parkerson family. Specifically, Mary Moore (1792-1862) married Brown Parkerson nr Fayetteville TN in 1815. She was the daughter of John and Martha Moore. Brown's brother, Hugh Parkerson, married Janet Moore (a sister?). I'd just like to know something about the family. My only clue is an entry in the Butler County, KY, 1870 census which listed a 2 yr. old child matching my gf's name and age. I will appreciate any information and/or assistance. 1. MOORE, b. Apr 1, 1865 d. Feb 26, 1949 Gutheri, Ky. Married Ida L. Gilispie. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CINDY CRAWFORD (DBXP64A@prodigy.com) *****Such as it is, here is my small amount of information that I know about my great great grandmother Adeline/Aline Moore. According to the 1900 census of Rockcastle County KY, she was born in May 1845. In 1900 she was a widow. Only one child is living. This could be because of the family story that she was a Moore who married a Moore. I cannot determine if she was married to a John Moore or William Moore. The 1900 census say that she was born in KY but her parents were born in TN. I have been told that there are other children but that Adeline only had one and the other children are from the Moore first marriage. Adeline's one child is my great grandmother Sarah Jane Moore, born August of 1869. She married my great grandfather William Durham, born Mar 1861. Sarah Jane Moore Durham died sometime around 1910 (no death record) in Pulaski County KY. The other children I believe to be involved in this family are: Alice Moore born 1865 Florence Moore born 1870 Florence is suppose to buried next to Adeline/Aline in Rockcastle County along with her baby. Any help with this family would be more than appreciated as I cannot locate another thing on them. Thanks for all the help. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SARAH SHARPLESS (sarahs1924@aol.com) *****I'm reportedly a descendant of Thomas H. MOORE (born 25 March 1804 in Upson Co., GA; died 8 April 1881; buried near Blue Springs (Harris Co.), GA) and Fada ALFORD (?). Their children were: Augustus L. Moore Sarah Ann Moore (m. William Henry HADLEY) Lysiar W. Moore Thomas J. Moore According to "History of Harris Co., GA, 1827-1961", Louise Calhoun Barfield, Columbus, GA, 1961, Thomas Moore's parents were Joel Moore (1760 - 1837) and Sarah CANNANT (1779 - 1834). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - JUDITH WHITE (104335.2134@CompuServe.COM ) *****I am trying to locate information or researchers who are interested in the ancestors/siblings/etc. of a Felix C. Moore. Felix was b 15 June 1834 in VA. He married 22 Dec 1859 Virginia Ann Clark in Fluvanna County. Felix died 11 May 1902 in Basic City VA (now a part of Waynesboro VA). Felix was a merchant. In the 1880 census he and his family (wife Virginia, children Sallie, Charles E. W., Felix H., Amanda, & Mary) are in Albemarle County. His obituary refers to him as "the well known merchant of Basic City" and states he was a member of the Waynesboro Methodist Church. A relative who did research on this family forty years ago showed Felix as a son of Charles Moore and Ann Carter. That may or may not be the case. That same researcher then showed Charles Moore as a son of the Edward Moore who married Mildred Lewis. I've been assured that this cannot be, i.e., that Felix does not go back to Edward Moore & Mildred Lewis. I would appreciate any help you can give me to resolve this dilemma. RESPONSES BENTLEY HOOKS (0007239973@mcimail.com) *****The query in Moore New/36 of 18 Dec 1996 from LYNN KROWCZYK (Lynn1224) concerned "Ephraim MOORE and Elizabeth Lindsey of Knox Co., KY". I have a neighbor, who is not online, but is very interested in the MOORE family. I had shared printouts of the Moore Family News, and he was most interested in the above query. He has information on an Ephraim Moore, b. abt 1782, served in the War of 1812, and died in 1854 in Knox Co, KY, and some subsequent info on children. Believe he would be interested in sharing information, as this emil is being written at his request. I will be happy to pass information or inquiries along to him - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - VERNA LERDALL (VLerdall) responding to W. T. MOORE's Profile in Vol. II-6 *****Hi William, Got a thought for you after seeing your info in the MOORE NEWS. Could your W.T. Moore be William Moore who married Patsey Roan in Caswell Co, NC in 1828. If so, he is the son of Brittain Moore and brother to my Williamson Moore who migrated to Webster Co, MO. Williamson had strong ties to Person Co since his wife Nancy Graves was from there and the land the Moore family lived on was very close to the Person County line. Also the Bird middle name of WT son William was a frequent name in the Dameron family which a daughter of Williamson married into. These families all travelled together to Tennessee and on to Missouri. If this is of interest let me know - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - VERNA LERDALL (VLerdall) resonds to ROBBIE BRITT (robritt@juno.com) who's inquiry was in the 29 Jan 97 issue. *****I saw your query in Moore News and thought I would pass this by you for interest. My Moore's also come from Caswell Co. Brittain Moore moved to Caswell Co from Virginia about 1805 and resided around Yancyville. He married 2nd Isabella Terrell in Caswell Co in 1808 and died there in 1820. Two of his son at least moved on. James, who went to Halifax Co and Williamson who went to Person Co, TN and finally to Webster Co, MO. If any of these names are familiar let me know...Verna vlerdall@aol.com - - - - - - - - - - - - (RTopp32833) *****I am researching my father MOORE's family who lived in Concord, Cabarrus County, NC from around 1900 to about 1920. My grandfather was Neilly (Neally) Moore and I have run into a brick wall there. He and or his ancestors may have come from VA or WVA but I haven't gotten back that far yet. He also may have been married before as there is a Mrs. Neilly MOORE reported to have been buried in Concord Cemetary prior to when he married my grandmother. According to the 1910 census, Neilly and my grandmother, Cecile V. Waddell Howard (she was a widow) lived in Concord with their family. The 1920 census lists my grandmother as a widow. Sure would like to find out more about his family or any possible ties. Thanks. (Continued in Vol. II-7 Part B)
