March 5, 1790. If anyone has any information on their family I sure would appreciate some help. 1. Lewis1 Moore. Lewis died before 1850 in Kentucky. He married Mary Owens, 5 Mar 1790 in Washington Co., Virginia. She was born 1771 in Virginia. Mary died after 1850 in Russell Co., Kentucky. Known children of Lewis are: + 2. m i. Thanks. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CINDY DURHAM CRAWFORD (DBXP64A@prodigy.com) ******Looking for Adeline/Aline/Alice Moore she was in Rockcastle County Kentucky up to 1900. She had a daughter Sarah Jane Moore who married William M. Durham in Rockcastle County. I have so little information on her that I find it very difficult to continue the hunt. There were other Moore children but from the story, and I don't know how correct it is Aline/Adeline was a Moore who married a Moore. So, I don't know if the other children, Florecne, Alice, and Rachel were Aline/Adeline's children or children by the husbands first wife. I am not even sure if Adeline/Aline's husband's name was John Moore or William Moore. The census records are different; but, she is listed as a widow in the 1900 census of Rockcastle. I located Ralph & Nancy (Clayton) Laws in the 10th census 1880,VA, Clarke county, Greenway township, and 6 children, the total is 12. Irene, Ralph,Thomas, Catharine, Mary, Nannie b. 4/1872, James, Charles, Nancy, Rachel, Azalia, Luvenia b.10/10/1883 White Post VA.(my Grandmother). Luvenia Laws married James Robert Moore b.6/26/1883, his parents were Joseph & Martha (Newman)Moore, 2 brothers Westly b.2/23/1885, Eli b.? all in Winchester VA (Frederick County). James & Luvenia Moore had 12 children, Martha, Florence, Luvenia(my mother) Elizabeth, Barbara, James jr., Jannie, (Bertha and Roberta(twins),Mary. I can't find Joseph & Martha Moore in the census. I was told to look in the Baltimore area, they may be there. I would like to know if any of the Moore's in this study group have any Slave records that might contain any information on my family members? Three months after his 16th birthday, he enlisted in Company A, of the 1st Minnesota Cavalry, which was stationed at Dover on the 11th day of January 1863. He served 3 years as a private and was discharged at St. Paul, Minnesota, the 25th day of February, 1866. This John Moore saw a lot of action during the Civil War. Though he was never wounded he was captured twice and escaped twice. After his discharge he returned to Dover, Tenn. and married. His wife died within 1 year, leaving an infant daughter who followed at the age of 9 months. On 20 November, 1868 he married Jane A Francis at Big Bend, Tennessee and moved to Kentucky entering the grocery business. In 1874 he moved with his family to Dexter, Stoddard County, Missouri where he settled on a farm 2 1/2 miles West of Dexter. In 1930, John N. Moore passed away and is buried at Dexter, Missouri. He and his 2nd wife had the following children and this includes there last known address: Ed Moore Muskogee, Oklahoma Thomas Moore Poplar Bluff, Missouri Mrs. J.W. Farris of Bloomfield, Missouri who was the wife of a state senator Mrs. William H. Beard, Dexter Missouri Ona Moore of Dexter Missouri who was to never married. Does anyone have information on the Moores prior to the birth of their son John N. Moore?? Patiently waiting in Missouri. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MIKE VANCE (pccowboy@swbell.net) *****I am from Priscilla Moore who married Carlton Nunn in Mecklenburg Co, VA. She was born about 1755 and died about 1810 in Person Co, NC. Her father was Thomas Moore whose will was recorded in Mecklenburg Co, VA on July 13, 1795. I am unsure about his wife, but believe it may have been Mary Farrar. Thomas Moore's will, written March 31, 1793 lists children Thomas Moore, Seth Moore, Taffanus Hudson, Elizabeth Davis and Priscilla Nunn. The "younger" children are George Moore, Field Moore, Judith Boyd, Nancy Crowder, Mary Franklin, and Lucy Willis. Bequests were made to all named. Thomas' wife was still living but not named. Executors were Godfrey Crowder, George Moore, and Hugh Franklin. I have very little information on the family before this generation.
