Her Name is Sallie Mae Moore and she married my grandfarther Edgar Duey Harper. Together they had seven children: Thomas Francis Harper, Walter Harper, Robert Samuel Harper, Clyde William Harper, Mary Harper, Edna May Harper. She passed away in Birmingham AL., in 1933 and is buried in Union Chapel AL. I started this "madness" about 20 years ago when my children were infants. I thought it would be important to give them a sense of family history. The truth is...I'm the one that is hooked. Oh well, at least the kids are "marginally Interested". My maiden name is Moore, and for that reason a great deal of my research has been concentrated on this surname. I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with other Moore researchers. I am descended from Andrew Moore who was most probably born in Ireland about 1680 and immigrated with his wife and children, first to Chester County Pa and then into Augusta County Va in the early 1730's. The line continues to David b 1722 > Andrew b 1752> to Andrew b abt 1820 (believe me on this one)> George W. b 1846 > James Russell b 1886 > to my father. By 1860, Andrew (III) had migrated to Fayette County (then) Va. Lord knows there's plenty to do on my own family (Webster), but I joined the Moore list so that I might find something interesting that my husband might enjoy. There are several folk in his family who have done a fair amount of work. Below is what I have received from them. It ends up that when we got to researching my family, we found out that my husband and I are related. Who knows, I could be related to everyone from Stokes Co., N.C.! Here's what I have so far. As far as I know, it is all from Stokes Co., N.C. Alexander Moore from will of March 27, 1803: Children-(sons): John, Alexander, Aaron, William, Gabriel,(daughters) Florence, Sarah, Mary, and Nancy. The Alexander Moore listed as a son married Rebecca Barner on Jan. 23,1804. Their children: Alfred, Newton, Creed, Bill, John, Calvin, Polly, Judie, and Bettie. Calvin Moore (b.1823 d. 1866) married Margaret Kiser on Oct. 27, 1848. (Margaret Kiser's sister Polly was my g-g-grandmother). Children of Calvin Moore: Alfred, Gabriel, Issac, Lucian, and Ellie. Lucian Moore(b.June 1849 d. May 1925) married Mary Elizabeth Spainhour. Their children: Stacey, Charles Baxter, Ida Mae, Lelia, James Iven, Edward Olen, Annie, Marvin, Hermie Dudley, and Carrie. Charles Baxter(b. 1879 d. 1949) married Della Bladon Grubbs(b.1881). Their children: Mabel Clare, Baxter "Doc", Raymond Augusta, Lucian Britt "Bill", and Otis Stone. Otis Stone Moore(b. 1920) married Mildred Stutts. Children of Otis and Mildred: Deborah, and Joey. Joey Madison Moore(b. 1959) married (me) Paula Jane Webster(b.1960) Our only child at this time-Madison Webster Moore. I have other information as to the other marriages and children, but wanted to keep it short and sweet for my introduction. Their children were: William Hamilton Moore Jr. Thomas Moore Robert Moore Margaret Ann Moore m. James Rutherford Alice (Allie) Moore m. John Penland He married Margaret Patton on August 4, 1774 in Rowan Co, NC. Their children were: Samuel Moore Nancy Moore m. Jonathon McPeters Rachel Moore m. He married Nancy Parsons on 02/26/1812 in Madison Co., AL. She died in Madison Co., AL in 1834. Children from this union include my ancestor, Jesse, b.01/15/1815 in Madison Co., AL. Upon the death of his first wife, Henry Sr. remarried a Rebecca Robertson, whose birth date and place are unknown to us but who died 01/26/1848 in Madison Co., AL. There were 2 children from this union. Jesse Moore also had 2 wives. The first was Abigail McClung, b. 11/15/1815. The only child in our records is our ancestor, Henry Hugh Moore, b. 11/12/1835. Jesse's second wife was Mildred G. Graham m. 04/14/1853 and who d. in 1862. Henry Hugh Moore was b. 11/12/1835 in Limestone Co. AL. It is thought that he served in the Confederate army, but our family has no proof. He m. Carrie Ann Benham b. 06/19/1839 in Monroe Co. MS, the daughter of James A.M. Benham (1811-18847) and Sarah Gewin. Their marriage took place 01/01/1862. Their child and our ancestor was Sallie Mattie Moore, b. 08/27/1870 in Decatur, AL. She married Jesse Langston Cooper of Tennessee on 12/23/1890 in Manor, TX. Their child Jesse Clyde Cooper (second of many children) was my grandfather. My mother is Jeanne Marie Cooper Ray of Denison, TX. My dad got me started. I have previous research done by my father and mother some years ago. Zachariah Pollard Moore b. 03/14/1811, TN, m. Lydia Green 12/04/1834, Wilson County, TN. Zachariah is said to have been an orphan with a half sister Elizabeth Bartholomew. I have found information connecting these two together, but not enough to prove their relationship. Elizabeth's mother was Margaret Bartholomew. I am assuming that maybe Margaret was Zachariah's mother, but I don't really know. This is what I really would like to find out, because until I do I am stuck here. Zachariah Pollard Moore and Lydia Green's children William Elisha Moore, Milton Harvey Moore, Warren Moore, Margaret M. Moore, Isacc Newton Moore, J. They were in Ark. by 1839, Lamar Co.Tx. by 1844, 1850 in Cooke Co. Tx. where Abner died 15 May 1859. In 1880 Sarah was in Runnells Co. Tx where she died 1897 A second Moore family--Jane A. Moore bn 1798, Pa. married Thomas Clark. I believe she may be the daughter of James Moore and Jane Canby. I would like to correspond with anyone researching Moores, Chitwoods, Corns, or Hancocks in Patrick Co, VA, or Wilson and Franklin Co, TN or Barry, Newton, McDonald Co, Missouri. I have the following info. on my Moores and am looking for more! I. Abner Moore born circa 1780. A. Abner Moore born 15 Dec 1813 in VA died 30 Apr 1885 in Barry Co, MO; married Elizabeth Chitwood born 25 Mar 1816 in Patrick Co, VA died 12 May 1887 in Barry, MO married circa 1835 in Franklin Co, TN. Abner Moore Sr and Jr are living next to each other in the 1840 Franklin Co, TN census. I suspect that Abner Moore, Sr is in Wilson Co, Tn in 1830 and that he also came from Patrick Co, VA because there is an Abner Moore of the correct age living next to John A. Corn in Wilson Co in 1830. Elizabeth Chitwoods mother was Susanna Corn of Patrick Co, Virginia and she had a brother named John Adam Corn who married Mary Moore in Patrick Co, VA. (Note-there is also a record for Jesse Moore marriage to Polly Corn 26 Dec 1805 in patrick Co, VA) So my theory is that Moore, Chitwoods and Corns traveled together from Patrick through Wilson to Franklin Co, TN. George and Mary lived in TX in the 1870s then came back to MO then back to Texas after 1884 but before 1900. In 1900 they are in Cleburne, Johnson, Texas.
