About Me

I am a third year PhD student at Arizona State University, a part of the 2Sigma HCI Learning Lab, under the supervision of Erin Walker and Heather Pon-Barry.

Research Interests

Focusing on spoken language, I am interested in how an interaction can change depending on how individuals speak to each other. When communicating, we convey additional information by modulating our tone, speaking more loudly or softly, more quickly or slowly. This information, contained in the speech signal, is key to the effectiveness of an interaction and how a conversational partner perceives a speaker. My research involves looking at how the speech signal can be used to analyze, understand, and effect interactions, most especially human-robot interactions.
