I grew up in Fresno, CA where I attended Sanger High School and then Fresno City College. I later earned a BA in Ancient and African history from the University of California, Davis. My MA degree in Ancient history is also from UC Davis. My doctorate was earned at Arizona State University. I lived in Odessa, TX from 1999 to 2008, where I taught Latin American history at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. I was also the first ever head coach of the UTPB Women's Soccer team for three years. I am a very active person. I enjoy playing pick-up soccer at Poly, tennis, running, and fitness classes at the PAC.
