ENG 556 Theories of Literacy

Weekly Forum

Each week, after the Wednesday evening class, there will be an online forum for brief discussions and observations on some selected item do to with literacy. All of the items will be accessible via the internet.

The forum will be open from Wednesday night to Sunday at noon.

The link to the site will be posted on this page and on the forum. Go to the site, check it out and then post observations, discussions, responses, rants & raves on the ENG 556 forum for that week.

Note that postings are intended to be brief, informal, and unlike these instructions, even conversational.

This week's Forum

Go to "The Original Krusty the Clown Homepage" (hey, hey!)

http://www.silverbox.com/krusty/

Without being distracted by all the non-essential links on the page, scroll down and link to the discussion subject, "Is Krusty Illiterate?" Read what "dilligent Simpsons fans" have to say on this important subject.

Consider the assumptions concerning clown "illiteracy" and the resulting contemplations on the broader social and rhetorical ramifications, ponderings, and insights on literacy that you are sure to experience in your exploration of the Krusty page and post your ideas and observations to the forum.

Here endeth the literacy forum.
