"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." -- Albert Einstein
Throughout the journey so far, there have been several experiences; gained knowledge and wisdom from people I met along the path; had some spark moments and some other moments which left me feel myself as dumb and stupid; it was an urge to share all these with others that led me to create the webpage. It takes me time to make friends, but once I call someone "friend", it is a lifetime commitment and friends are a big part of my life. I love people who are simple, people with a passion, people who are down-to-earth, people with the heart of a child, people with some values, people with an open mind, people ready to listen to others; can't tolerate show-offs, arrogance, hypocrisy. Arrogance comes from ignorance. It's difficult to spend time with people who think they know everything, who think money and fame are all in the world. Being far from home and family, one realizes what "nostalgia" really means. I have experienced life the most for the last few years, its good and bad times, making some very good friends, and also having seen "the dark side of the moon".
Just before I was born, my mother finished reading the novel "Mother" of Maxim Gorky, and being heavily impressed by the character "Pavel", I was given the name after him. Born at the eve of the Durga-puja on 15th October, 1980 in the Metropolitan Nursing Home, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, I grew up in a suburban town of Kolkata, Madhyamgram. My schooling started in a Kindergarten school nearby my house called "Moumela Nursery and K.G. School". "Moumela" means gathering of honey-bees; it was really a great time in this school under the guidance of a bunch of caring and affectionate teachers, making a lot of good friends, some of whom I am still in touch with; it was really a gathering of "honey-bees" in the search of honey of life; love, affection and friendship. In my 5th standard, I got admitted to "Madhyamgram High School", where I attended till 12th standard. Again I was very lucky to have some great teachers and make some great friends.
In 1999, I took admission in the Computer Science and Engineering department of Jadavpur University, Kolkata in order to pursue my Bachelors in Engineering degree. The four years of undergraduate studies here from 1999 to 2003, has probably been the most significant time of life so far. This was the time of life to learn to make choices, have likes and dislikes, developing opinions, making judgments, feeling the first sense of freedom. Apart from the fact of being a part of one of the prime institutions of the country, being the part of a department with top-quality faculty, there were other memories that I still cherish of. I grew up interests in several other things during this period, which has become an inseparable part of life now. I made some lifelong friends and met some more people whose shared wisdom has given an enlightenment.
Currently I am PhD candidate in the Computer Science and Engineering department of Arizona State University under the supervision of Dr. Arunabha Sen. My research interests are in Algorithm Design, Computational Complexity Theory, Power/Performance optimization issues in System-on-Chip and Network-on-Chip design. If the years of undergraduate studies helped me develop a spectrum of knowledge of previously unexplored things, the great part of the doctoral study has been developing part of another spectrum of knowledge of realizing what I don't know and how less I know. I consider myself lucky enough to make friends with whom I can hang out, share my thoughts, share my good and bad times.
