ABOUT
SUMMONED SURVEILLANCE:
Exhibition
at ASU's GSC Gallery ran from 2/1-2/28/10
Through an established live video & audio feed in
the artists' shared studio (Peter
Christenson & Matthew
Mosher), Summoned Surveillance, a month-long,
24-7 durational kinetic exhibition, invited online viewers
to remotely observe and interact in real-time with the artists
through a computer web browser.
The new-genre, performance piece explored a range of issues
including those related to privacy and voyeurism, intellectual
property, and public and self-scrutiny. The installation investigated
both the synthesis and disconnect between the actual and virtual
realms, the artificial (re)presentation of reality in the
electronic world, and contemporary culture’s obsession
with watching reproduced realism in the media. >> More
