J/ApJS/126/271 Surface Photometry of Nearby Field Galaxies (Jansen+ 2000) ================================================================================ Surface Photometry of Nearby Field Galaxies: The Data Jansen R.A., Franx, M., Fabricant, D., Caldwell, N. =2000ApJS..126..271J (SIMBAD/NED BibCode) ================================================================================ ADC_Keywords: Atlases; Galaxies, photometry; Galaxies, optical; Galaxies, nearby; Photometry, surface Keywords: atlases: galaxies - galaxies: fundamental parameters - galaxies: photometry - galaxies: stellar content - surveys Description: We have obtained integrated and nuclear spectra as well as U, B, R surface photometry for a representative sample of 196 nearby galaxies. These galaxies span the entire Hubble sequence in morphological type, as well as a wide range of luminosities (M_B = -14 to -22) and colors (B-R = 0.4 to 1.8). Here we describe the sample selection criteria and present the surface photometry for these galaxies. The spectro- photometry is presented in a companion paper (=2000ApJS..126..331J). The photometry agrees well with previous work in those cases in which earlier data are available. We present an atlas of images, radial surface brightness profiles, and color profiles, as well as tables of derived parameters. The radial profiles are available electronically at URL www.public.asu.edu/~rjansen/nfgs/ . Trailing the table, notes or comments to that table may be present. Each of these lines starts with a pound-sign (#) and should be either ignored/skipped or stripped from the table on automated read-in. Although this is not conform the CDS standard my SM routines rely on their presence for automated read-in of the table data. Negative color differences indicate that the center is redder than the outer parts. History: * 01-Dec-2000 Rolf A.
