JUS 591/691 - Family, Work & Justice

Primarily distinctions between work and family has been defined by concepts of the public vs. private spheres. These divisions have also been used to explain the development of women's unpaid labor in the home men's paid labor in the marketplace. Both social scientists and legal scholars have interrogated these divisions in uncovering the basis for society's norms and values, laws governing the family and workers, and public policy setting the state and family's obligations.
