Graduate Students

Tanya Borchardt
Microbiology M.S. Student
B.A., Natural Science – Biology
B.A., International Political Economy
University of Puget Sound
tanya.borchardt@asu.edu

Tanya joined the Haydel lab in August 2007. Her research focuses on understanding how specific clay minerals and clay mineral derivatives kill bacteria. She is also using bioimaging and microscopic techniques to investigate bacterial-mineral interactions.

Awards:

Robin Treuer
Microbiology M.S. Student
B.S. Microbiology
Oregon State University
robin.treuer@asu.edu

Robin joined the Haydel lab in January 2008. Her research focuses on characterizing the M. tuberculosis prrAB and mtrAB two-component systems and understanding the role of essential two-component regulators in M. tuberculosis pathogenesis and physiology.

Caitlin Otto
Microbiology Ph.D. Student
B.S. Microbiology
Boise State University
caitlin.otto@asu.edu

Currently, there are openings for Ph.D. students to work in the area of bacterial pathogenesis and bacterial molecular genetics. Assistantships will be given to qualified graduate students that apply and are accepted to School of Life Sciences Graduate Program for a Doctoral degrees in Microbiology or Molecular and Cellular Biology. All are encouraged to apply.
